Camper area in St. Gallen

The Pfauengässli camper area is located in the center of St. Gallen, in eastern Switzerland, only 150 m from the old town. The small area offers three spaces for campers up to 7.40 m in length and is ideal for a city visit in St. Gallen.

From here you can reach the old town, the Abbey Library, and numerous restaurants on foot in just a few minutes. The area is particularly popular with travelers in campers who want to explore St. Gallen and the Lake Constance region.

Price per night: CHF 29.- (including visitor’s tax of CHF 3.50 per person). Members of Wohnmobilland Schweiz receive a discount of CHF 10.- per night. Member price for 2 persons per night: CHF 19.-

Infrastructure

No infrastructure. No waste disposal, electricity, or services on site. Sanitary Inside: only vehicles with their own toilet. Awning is not allowed due to space, but there is plenty of shade and you can sit on the adjacent meadow.

Camper area rules

Please park in reverse. This is much easier when leaving, otherwise it is difficult to maneuver when the area is full.

Out of respect for other campers, vehicles shorter than 6.50 m should park in the middle or at space 1. If large vehicles are in the middle, it is difficult to enter or exit space 1.

  • Maximum stay: 3 nights
  • Caravans and tents are not allowed.
  • Sanitary Inside: overnighting only in vehicles with own toilet allowed.
  • Fee calculated per 24 hours.
  • Gas grill, table, and chairs are allowed but must be stored at night and when leaving the area (for trips, cycling tours, etc.). Lawn may be used.
  • Observe the parking lines. Open awnings are not allowed.
  • Dogs must be on a leash and their waste disposed of in Robidog.
  • Noise must be avoided on the entire area; generators are prohibited.
  • Quiet hours from 22:00 to 07:00.
  • Leave the area clean.
  • Vehicles without persons may not stay overnight.
  • Violations of the rules will result in immediate eviction (no refund).

Arrival & Departure

Highway from St. Margrethen: Take the exit St. Fiden / Hospitals and follow the road along the Olma halls. Turn left at the large intersection and 80 m later turn right into the entrance.
Highway from Zurich: Take exit St. Fiden / Hospitals. On the bridge turn left and follow the main road. At the traffic light turn left, go straight for 880 m, and at the next traffic light turn right (signs follow).
On site: Turn left on the narrow access road to the blue camper parking sign. Drive first 10 m to the left (opposite direction) and then reverse about 40 m to park.
Departure: Leave the area via the same small road as arrival. Do not go straight at the intersection – easier departure without blocking the bike lane.

Stroll through the old town to the funicular railway Mühleggbahn, from the mountain station past the Three Ponds (Grand Tour of Switzerland photo spot), via the Notkersegg Monastery (total 30 minutes), and return to the marketplace with the Teufenerbähnchen.
